Amsterdam

I made one trip here in June of 2001, shortly after having arrived in Frankfurt. Two of my fraternity brothers from college were trotting around Europe, so we decided to meet up in Frankfurt, and leave immediately for some place, ANY place, better than Frankfurt. So, off we went to Amsterdam...

Okay, let's go ahead and clear it all up: You can buy and smoke marijuana in designated "coffee shops." You can also buy hallucinogenic mushrooms at other shops around town - this is all legal. The red light district is, well I'm not sure how to describe it - girls stand in the windows and, well you know the rest. Something most people don't realize is that most European cities have a red light district. It's everywhere.

Besides all of the things you hear rumors about, Amsterdam is truly a beautiful and very cultured city. We made it to the Van Gogh Museum and the Anne Frank House, both of which were amazing. I also recommend the Heineken Brewery Tour, and renting bicycles to get around town.
