Aschaffenburg
I made one trip here in December of 2001, just before Christmas. Aschaffenburg is about 40 minutes east of Frankfurt, and also set on the Main river. The town itself is a very typical medium-sized German town - there is a nice town center with shops and old monuments (fountains, etc.), and as usual, a schloss (palace or castle - all German towns seem to have one). I was lucky enough to be here during the Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas market), as you will tell from some of the pictures...
