Cologne

If you ask anyone about Cologne, the first thing they will mention is the Cathedral. Standing 156m tall, it was the tallest building in Europe before the Eifel Tower was built. It somehow survived WWII (caretakers removed the stained glass windows before bombing began), and will definitely blow you away. Cologne itself is a great little city, with a nice restaurant and park area near the river, and plenty of things to do. My pictures from Cologne are from two different trips in March and June of 2002. The first 8 pictures were taken on a day which the temperature rose to almost 100F, which in Germany is unheard of. But it was great, people were splashing around in the fountains and relaxing in the shade with ice cream.

Highlights: Cathedral, Grand Saint-Martin Tower, river walk, Chocolate Museum
Things You'll Notice: The Cathedral! - So big you can see it from almost anywhere in town, Kölsch Beer - brewed locally and served only in tiny 0.2 Liter glasses
