Frankfurt Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas Market)
One thing you have to give 'ole Stankfurt credit for is its Christmas Market. The center of it is in Römerplatz, the oldest and definitely the prettiest historic part of the city. Every year a tree from Switzerland is set up (usually over 50 feet tall) in the courtyard, and tons of booths selling drinks, food, and all sorts of traditional crafts are set up everywhere. Grab a glüwein (warm spiced wine traditionally served throughout central Europe in winter) and some chocolate covered anything (even carrots folks, even carrots), and enjoy the jovial atmosphere.
Christmas markets in Germany and Belgium are heralded as the best in Europe, with the largest being in Nürnberg, Germany. Strasbourg, France also known for its Christmas market.
