Marburg

Marburg is a scenic little university town a little over an hour north of Frankfurt. My friend Hein had a car rented for a weekend, so with a few hours to kill, we decided to take off and check it out. The area around Marburg is dominated by large hills, one of which makes up the center of town. On the climb up the hill you go through quiet little cobblestone lined roads, a classic German marktplatz (market place) in the center of town, a few cathedrals, and a schloß (palace) at the top. From the top of the hill we spotted a unique twin spired church across town, and went to check it out. It turned out to be the oldest gothic church in Germany - St. Elisabeth. It's a perfect day trip from Frankfurt.

Highlights: Cathedral, town center, schloß (palace)
Things You'll Notice: You're sick of climbing stairs
