Ölüdeniz

Well, this was where 4 of the 7 nights in Turkey were spent. Here's a little tidbit for you: the word turquoise originates from Turkey, used to describe the color of the waters here. Standing on the beach here, it all makes sense. Ölüdeniz is known mainly for two things: Butterfly Valley, and the Blue Lagoon. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it to Butterfly Valley, which is only accessible via hiking or boat. I did, however, manage to snap a picture of it with a disposable waterproof camera from the boat during my last scuba dive. The Blue Lagoon is a very scenic, sheltered, clear and shallow lagoon in a horseshoe shape that offers your best bet for beach lounging. This is the perfect place to just swim around with a snorkel, the color and clarity of the water is unbelievable. There are also plenty of beach bars to explore, and despite being a touristy area, the prices are still great. One thing that did surprise me was the number of British tourists here. There were even signs outside of restaurants advertising a "Full English Breakfast" with the price given in pounds.

Highlights: Butterfly Valley, Blue Lagoon, Scuba-diving and snorkeling, paragliding, cuisine
Things You'll Notice: Color of the water, cheap prices, friendly people
