Oxford
Oxford is a great day trip from London, just a couple of hours by train. The train takes you through the English countryside, and one thing that really sticks out is how green the fields are hills are. I guess it's the constant rain and lack of much sun that produces it, and it will definitely grab your attention the first time you're here. The town itsef maintains a healthy balance between the old and the new, but near the campus, it's hard to find any modern buildings. They also do a good job of keeping idiots with cameras (like myself) from just wandering around the campus, but as you can see I still managed to get some good shots. There are a lot of tours you can take around the whole town, but I think the majority of the worthwhile scenery is near campus, which can be explored by foot.
