Salzburg

The hills are alive, with the sound of music... Yes, parts of "The Sound of Music" were filmed in Salzburg and the surrounding area, and if you'd like, you can even do a cheesy tour to visit all of the places where filming took place. We opted to just wander around aimlessly. We were only here for one full day, but I think the town warrants much more than that. It is very clean, and full of amazing architecture, fountains, and the Alps for a backdrop. There are at least 4 impressive churches in town, as well as some nice gardens, parks, and a great riverwalk. The fortress that overlooks the city has been rebuilt over the centuries, and with its different styles and colors, is more of an eyesore than it is impressive.
